Our eScrip Promotions:

• eScrip registration forms and information sent home with our Welcome Packet the first week of school.
• Two Phone-a-thon evenings in September/October. By using the school directory, we call those families not yet registered with eScrip— in two, two-hour sessions, we can register about 100 families. We stress the fact that it is free to them and that we do all the paperwork for them!
• Email campaign: we send a ‘Join our eScrip Family’ email campaign to everyone on our email list and ask them to forward it to everyone they know.
• We have an eScrip table set up at large events i.e. Back to School Night, Open House, Incoming 6th grade Orientation Night, Spring Social etc. In all, we have found our Phone-a-thon to be the easiest and most effective sign up method.

eScrip became San Jose Middle School’s main fundraiser in November, 1999. By May we had 25 supporters and made $430.00. After taking over the program in June, 2000, I realized that sending eScrip information home, as well as monthly mailed newsletters and frequent email newsletters, were simply ‘not enough’...we needed to make it easier for people to join.

We now have a steady supporter base of approximately 550 families, and make about $1800 to $2000 per month. “eScrip has become such a familiar word at our school...families know how easy it is and how huge the benefits are for our kids.....that’s the key! While Safeway is our biggest contributor, most families are happy to register their credit cards as well, providing us with an additional $200/month.”

The money earned through eScrip has had a tremendous impact on the academic/social experience that our students have at San Jose Middle School. eScrip funds support Classroom Enrichment, Technology Upgrades, Music Competitions, Campus Beautification, Library Improvements and much more! Not only are our San Jose families excited about eScrip, so are our teachers and staff!
