PROMOTIONS
Last year Michele Calhoun attended an eScrip symposium on September 18, 2007, knowing little to nothing about the eScrip program. What she heard at that symposium inspired her and she immediately caught the vision of what eScrip could mean for her group at Lake View Elementary. She went home that night and enrolled! That’s right; her school was not even enrolled on the program yet! She rolled up her sleeves and went to work! Within two months 150 new registrations were on board by having a raffle for a family night fun basket.

But the PTA was just getting started. It was 10% Back to Schools time and they had just days to get the program off the ground. By working directly with the staff at the Auburn, WA, Safeway thousands of receipts were collected and entered into the Back to Schools website. Amazingly, even though Lake View was brand new to the program their group earned over $6200 on the 10% Back to Schools program and was one of the top 250 groups nationwide to earn the bonus $1000 offered by Safeway.

Still, seeing room for growth and plenty of time left in the year another registration push was set into motion. Everyone who brought in just one registration won a prize and for those who brought in 15 registrations a free iPods was awarded! By the end of the 2008 school year, the Lake View Elementary eScrip group had 446 supporters. All this in one year!

With such a successful year the PTA now sees this tremendous opportunity for their school and is fired up and ready to meet their goal of doubling last year’s registration. New PTA President, Jill Trinh and Vice President Rhonda Yakubow have also caught the vision of eScrip and its potential! Next year they plan to have a Donut drive thru, more IPod giveaways, raffles and much more!

We look forward to continuing to watch their program grow. Congrats Lake View on a job very well done!

SUPPORTER SUCCESS

One of our most valuable parents is Heidi Bourne, a proud member of Lake View Elementary PTA and a mother of three. Heidi had an innovative idea to single handedly bring in 46 new registrations in 30 days! Here is what she has to say:

”When a parent brought the eScrip program information to a meeting, I could not believe what I was hearing…Free Money?! Sign up your friends and family and earn money monthly for our school just because they shopped for groceries etc.? And, nothing to deliver?! Wow! After the first check arrived at our school I was so impressed with how much we had made, that I decided to take it one step further. I put together a simple raffle basket at my business encouraging clients to sign up. It was both fun and easy -- the easiest fundraisers I have ever done. WE LOVE eScrip, and the mom who brought it to our school.”

THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE

As principal of an elementary school, I find that we are most successful when students, parents, teachers, and the larger community work together toward the common goal of providing the best possible education for our children. At Lake View Elementary, we are fortunate to have an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and a community that believes that our work is important and worthy of support. They contribute to the success of the students we serve through a variety of activities including purchase of supplies, after school activities, and curriculum support.

Because we rely upon, and work closely with our community, I want to make certain that if we ask for support, or create a fund-raiser, it is as effective and efficient as possible. In these challenging economic times, some of the old ideas no longer work. Having students sell items, or ask families directly for financial support has become very difficult.

To the rescue has come eScrip. eScrip has been a wonderful and easy fundraiser for our school and PTA. Parents contribute simply by doing their regular shopping! We didn’t anticipate how successful the fundraiser would be, and were very pleasantly surprised when we began to see how much we had earned. It is as “painless” a fundraiser as you can find, yet has contributed greatly to our available funds. Most importantly, the money has had a direct impact in the building, allowing us to continue programs and activities that have been an important part of our school environment. We very much appreciate having eScrip available and for escrip being such an easy way to raise money.
